The ‘Adulting’ girls Ray and Nikhat are back but the issues of money and fitting into the ‘Mumbai life’ have been replaced with both trying to figure out their social and love lives. In Adulting Season 2 Yashaswini Dayama and Aisha Ahmed continue playing Ray and Nikhat respectively. It is directed by Ankita Sharma and debutant Nayana Shyam. Adulting Season 2 cast expands with the introduction of Viraj Ghelani and Anud Dhaka.
Adulting Season 2 sees Ray And Nikhat soaring high in their careers with a few glitches. The story moves out of the life of these two and reels in other characters like Sam and Manav who provide a means for the girls to explore their social life, non-committal relationships, being an ‘adult’ with their parents, apart from other things.
The season starts with Nikhat’s announcing her moving away for a project. As the show progresses we find the two dealing with more relatable issues- bosses, millennial apprehension of catching feelings, modern dating, becoming a fence-mender between parents.
The coder and the architect become more relatable in Adulting Season 2 with their more generic millennial problems. They are looking for casual dating while craving for and being scared of something serious at the same time- Tinder finds a short place in the show, just like in most of our lives. What does not change is their innocence, bickering and feelings of fondness for each other.
The characters played by Viraj and Anud leave their impact on the story and their presence help unveil different aspects of Ray & Nikhat’s personalities, which helps to add depth to their character.
The audience’s response to Adulting Web Series was a tad bit bland than the previous one- the number of views ranges between 3-6 million on the five episodes, decreasing as the season progresses.
