Your Honour web series is an Indian adaptation of Israeli series Kvodo. Writer Ishan Trivedi has based the plot of the story in Punjab. Bhishan played by Jimmy Sheirgill is a respected High Court judge. He is famously known for delivering righteous justice. However, the love for his 18-year-old son Abeer featuring Pulkit Makol forces him to something he would not do normally.
Abeer is trying to get a driving license but fails in all the three attempts. He is filled with anxiety after hearing the news and drives his father’s car recklessly on the highway. His negligence causes an accident when he hits a young boy who is the son of a famous gangster in Punjab. Abeer informs his father about the happenings and he protects his son by violating laws and tampering evidence.
There are many questions like whether Gunjan will be alive and what will be the consequences when the real culprit is caught for which one has to watch the show. Plot of Your Honour Season 1 is very nice, but the web series gains momentum after the sixth episode. The introduction of a few characters is a waste of time. For instance, Abber’s involvement with a college sports professor was not required at all.
Jimmy Sheirgill plays his nuanced part with conviction. Mita Vashsiht, however, grabs the eyeballs with her performance. She shows various sides of her character with ease. At times, she is angry, then diplomatic and then calm. She has lent her beautiful voice in the series by singing lullaby for her son. Her characterization of a cop is outstanding. She knows all through the series who has committed the crime and keeps the secret well hidden. She has shown excellent method acting skills. Parul Gulati has experimented with her role as Roma. She might be seen playing dumb in the forefront but she is the one who makes viewers think what will be next as a wonderful narrator.
Suhasini Mulay is Bhishan’s mother in law in the series and plays a great role in moving the story forward. Yashpal Sharma is in the best avatar for his gangster role and adds flavor to the plot. The dialogues are simple but there is use of Punjabi language in some scenes which should have been translated for the easy understanding of the audience
The direction is done strategically and builds progressively with each episode. It is a good show but one requires patience to see the plot being built up. The Your Honour web series is streaming on Sony Liv and has 12 episodes. It is filmed by Eeshwar Nivas.
