Ghost’ offers nothing new, not in terms of storytelling .

Four ace Indian filmmakers Dibakar Banerjee, Zoya Akhtar, Anurag Kashyap and Karan Johar have collaborated again for creating an anthology named web series Ghost Stories after Bombay Talkies and Lust Stories on an online streaming platform Netflix

The earlier movies had the content of lust and the cinematic world, however, the recent release focuses on horror- a genre which has neither been tried by any of the directors. The movie displays many strong points as well as weaknesses of these directors which will be experienced by watching the film.

All the directors have tried to push the characters of their stories to an extreme level of madness. You will get to see violent miscarriages, terrifying in-laws, sounds in the hallway and a group of village cannibals. The directors have tried to move out of their comfort zone, particularly Karan Johar who mainly directs romantic and youth-centric movies.

All the supernatural fears of the film are taken from today’s reality like mob violence, the suffering of a woman and fight between generations. The directors while promoting the film have talked about a sense of freedom for creating something different and unique which is free from board certifications or today’s competition of creating masala movies.

All the directors have done good work but the section directed by Dibakar Banerjee is something to look out for. The film has received a mixed review from the audiences. It seems that Bollywood really needs to understand the horror and its aspects before actually going for it. You should only watch this series if you really have the time of 2.5 hours for it.
