Breathe Into The Shadows Review | Breathe Season 2 Ratings

Breathe Into The Shadows web series starts with the kidnapping of a little girl in the midst of a birthday party. Sia’s shocked parents, Dr. Avinash Sabharwal (Abhishek Bachchan) & Abha(Nithya Menen) start losing hope as time goes by & police does not come to any conclusion. One fine day, a voice on a digital device announces that to get their daughter back the father will have to murder people.

The premise is as bizarre as Breathe Season 1 where Madhavan is a father who turns in a killer to save his sick boy’s life. In Breathe Season 2 there is a heavy star quotient & plot holes are more glaring & loose can be seen through open eyes. Throughout the 12 episodes of 45 minutes each, there are many cringe-worthy movements in Breathe Season 2. There are different characters who refer to the missing girl in the first few episodes. One month passes, then three months & finally nine months pass so quickly that we do not miss any crucial information. Some parts of Breathe Into The Shadows are really good, especially where Amit Sadh has reprised his role as crime branch officer Kabir Sawant from the first season. He is transferred from Mumbai to Delhi but his anger management is still terrible & loses his control whenever provoked.

The other two characters Hrishikesh Joshi & Srikant Verma have most of their time on screen & play faithful companions to Sawant whose fight is two-fold. He first fights against his temper & second with the killer who paints his victims as ten heads of Ravana. When we start getting convoluted & confused the revelations begin to unfold.

We know who is the villain & the last few episodes are stretched to our patience as the web series ends in a predictable way. Abhishek Bachchan has some moments but cannot let go of the stiltedness which surrounds his character. Avinash has been given an interesting backstory where some parts are effective as childhood trauma leaves a lasting impact on an individual’s mind.

There are split personalities, women who love women, cheerful wheelchair users, recovering drug addicts with dark secrets, competitive female cop who want to go ahead in life, fearless ladies of night who confront people who can be labeled as psychopaths & so on. Some of the scenes are watchable while others are pathetic.

It is a thriller but loosely written. It is bouncing in & out of a kidnapping drama & gets caught in its own web. Breathe Into The Shadows is at most a one time watch but cannot be binged repeatedly.
