The winners of the Yamaha Fascino Miss Diva 2017 Shraddha Shashidhar, Apeksha Porwal and Peden Ongmunamgyal, are now Volunteering to build the home of Harichandra Rere who lives in Karjat with this family. By associating with this wonderful initiative, the girls aim to spread awareness for the cause of decent shelter and improved basic sanitation for the underprivileged families across India.
Harichandra Rere, who lost his house in the last year’s heavy rains has only bamboos which hold the roof, in which he has been living for the past 7 years, with his wife Girja(28) and daughter Pushpa(10). The three had been sharing a room with his brother for the past year. Even before the rainfall had destroyed their home, their home had no electricity or proper water supply. The rains inside the home made it very dangerous as the replies could enter their home. Harichandra is a farmer by profession, has a small piece of land where he cultivates rice for a living, his wife Girija helps in earning money for the family by doing labour work.
The Miss Diva 2017 Supranational participated in the ‘BUILD’ campaign initiated by Habitat for Humanity India will help such families have a better life and future with a safer home to live in.
