Their presence added star power to a movement that has been gathering momentum across the country and brought fresh attention to the students’ demands for accountability and transparency.
Shabana Azmi Leads From The Front
Veteran actor Shabana Azmi emerged as one of the most prominent faces from the film fraternity at the protest. After visiting Jantar Mantar on July 19, she also participated in the ‘Chalo Sansad’ march on July 20, stressing that the gathering was a peaceful exercise of citizens’ constitutional rights.
Responding to questions about why more Bollywood celebrities were not present, Azmi urged the media to focus on the issues raised by the protesters rather than counting celebrity attendance. She maintained that the movement deserved attention because of its demands, not because of who was standing on the stage.
Prakash Raj Voices Strong Support
Actor Prakash Raj, who has consistently spoken on social and political issues, stood alongside the protesters throughout the demonstration. Carrying a copy of the Constitution during the march, Raj reiterated that speaking the truth should never be feared.
He also questioned Bollywood’s silence on the issue, remarking that “the world is watching,” while encouraging more public figures to speak up when they believe a cause is important. Swara Bhasker Joins The Demonstration
