Indian Film Festival of Melbourne Amidst CoronaVirus

Many international film festivals have been canceled due to the ongoing pandemic the Indian Film Festival of Melbourne (IFFM) will be held from October 30 to November 7 by sticking to the public safety guidelines. The festival organizers will introduce a Film Club where fans can enroll for virtual masterclass with leading directors. 

The previous editions of the festival had sessions with Karan Johar, Rani Mukherji and Zoya Akhtar among others the Film Club for celebrating cinema in the current challenging times. The participants will have to watch a classical movie and discuss it in a virtual session with a leading director. 

Festival director Mitu Bhowmick Lange said, “ This is a unique way for film lovers to stay entertained, educated and engaged while at home in these unprecedented times. We have a strong line-up of filmmakers from various parts of India.” The festival was originally scheduled for August will retain the short film and dance competitions and the awards gala has been pushed to 2021.
