A talented cast looks for humour in vain in the web series PariWar. The Disney+ Hotstar series moves around a family in Allahabad which keeps on arguing about the property. The main culprit is the head of family Kashiram played by Gajraj Rao who has given away a major plot of land to a theatre actor Gangaram played by Vijay Raaz for building shelter home for widows and widowers.
Kashiram might be crazy, hateful or just trying to unite his divided anger by giving away his property. However, Shantanu Aman and Gaganjeet Singh, the writers and Sagar Bhalla, the director do not pay too much attention to character building and focus on rolling out comic scenes.
Kashiram’s motives always remain hidden which indicates that the second season might be in making. The brothers who are in debt are interchangeable just like their wives who are sisters. His best scenes include Yashpal Sharma and Ranvir Shorey who are versatile actors and can brighten dull scenes. The talented Sadiya Siddiqui who is in the role of Shishupal’s wife Anju is not given an opportunity to show her talent.
The theme of dissatisfied siblings brought together by the death of a parent or just by the prospective death have been explored in a better way in Khajoor Pe Atka and Ram Prasad ki Tervi.
Everybody in the show is moving along on their past achievements from Ballary who has given 2007 hit Bheja Fry to most of the cast is brought together by a surprise appearance in the final episode. The character is played by Neena Gupta who has previously performed with Gajraj Rao in Badhaai Ho and it is a final attempt of the director to bring masala to the series.
