My Name Is Khan Movie Review

“My name is Khan and I am not a terrorist”. These few words depicts the entire storyline of the movie. It is all about an extraordinary journey of an ordinary man to meet the president of United States, just to tell these words. Movie is a mix of everything  – 9/11 episode, torture of muslims & Katrina in New Orleans. Sounds like a perfect masala flick to capture on the tide of recent terrorism related flicks? It isn’t and My Name is Khan is a new chapter in Indian Cinema, despite a very predicting storyline. Also the movie divides the world in 3 eras – B.C., A.D. & Post 9/11.

Karan Johar has to applauded for his brilliant attempt and once again showcasing the power of Indian cinema. My name is Khan touches the heart of every audience right from the start. It’s a poweful and emotional storytelling tale of a man who lost his love & everything in post 9/11 era.  Sharukh Khan plays the role of Rizwan Khan who suffers from asperger’s syndrome. He moves to San Francisco to live with his brother after demise of their mother. There he meets Mandira who is a divorcee and also has a 10 years old child. They soon fall in love and gets married. Rest is to be seen in the theaters to witness a brilliant directorial attempt.

Movie marks the return of Bollywood’s best screen couple for last 2 decades – Sharukh and Kajol. Kajol is at his best as always and the on-screen couple once again creates magic. However movie belongs to one and only Sharukh Khan. This has man has beyond imagination capability of carrying a movie on his shoulders. Sharukh once again proves that stardom is not earned overnight & there is tremendous hard work behind every success.  This one is the best act by Sharukh at par with his performance in award winning Chal De India. Infact there is not much in the storyline of the movie ,only things which hold viewers till end is Sharukh Khan. Not all actors are blessed with such power.

Very few drawbacks of the movie includes its long length & predictable storyline. Movie is running to packed houses worldwide and this one can’t be missed. My Name is Khan has made a collection of 25 crores on Friday alone, so keep you fingers crossed.

Final Verdict : Stop reading reviews and rush to theaters if you are lucky enough to get a ticket.

3 Idiots Movie Review
Excellence is the only word i could find to define 3 Idiots. There has been lot of controversies surrounding the script of the movie, no matter what’s the truth as a audience we received the best movie of 2009 and arguably one of the very best of all time in Hindi Film Industry.

Apologies to the MissFilmy fans for late review as I didn’t wanted to rate it before watching. Few critics have rated the Movie as bad as 1 or 2 stars and labeled as one of the weakest act ever by Aamir Khan. For me this was one of the finest act by the actor and he once again raised the standards of acting beyond all imaginations. Biggest quality of Aamir khan lies in the fact that he never reflects his stardom in movies and gets into the skin of each character so deeply that even after so many years we remember each & every roles portrayed by him. Aamir khan is not just an actor he is a living legend and a role model for youngsters.

Biggest strength of 3 Idiots lies in the screenplay and finest acts by each of the characters. There is never a dull moment in the movie and direction is beyond excellence. Rajkumar Hirani once again lives up to the expectations created by his own previous success. There has been a lot of comedies released in 2009 but none of them reaches the level of  humour created in 3 Idiots. Humour is not just about telling some funny jokes and few vulgar lines but humour lies in the way characters portrays on the screen. It is impossible to shy away from laughter while watching the movie and its a complete fun package.

To my surprise, many critics have criticized that movie fails to deliver any social message. 3 Idiots not only delivers excellent entertainment but also succeed in inspiring individuals. It teaches us the biggest lesson in life and that is pursue of excellence. Mostly we spend our life chasing for success but success follows excellence. Not only that movie is also a take on the way immense pressure is created on students by their parents and many failing to cope with same commit suicide. In short, 3 Idiots is a never before version of mixing entertainment with social message.

Apart from Aamir Khan, the actor which needs a standing ovation is Bhuman Irani. It’s not just about comedy but its all about charecterization. Like Aamir he too gets into the skin of charecter and delivers his finest act till date.

3 Idiots is beyond any ratings and it needs an extra rating for the excellence achieved in all forms of film making.

Final Verdict : A lifetime experience and a must watch for every cinema lovers.

Rocket Singh: Salesman Of The Year – Movie Review
Quiet Refreshing & brilliant movie. This movie is an great example of what a good director can do with pretty ordinary script. The movie once again portrays directorial brilliance of Shimit Amin whose previous attempt Chak De India was applauded by both the critics &  audience.

Ranbir Kapoor plays the role of a Sikh youth named Harpreet Singh Bedi. Harpreet has been always below average in studies and never got more than 35-40% in any examinations. After completing his post graduation he desires to be a Salesman as he has a self belief that it is the best thing he can do in life. He joins a company as a sales trainee and his task is to sell computers. Soon his dream starts to shatter when he realizes that the job demands telling lies and being corrupt. Soon he starts a secret sales and service firm while continuing to work in his existing company. Movie criticizes the old and corrupt way of work in Indian society and reflects that everyone is likely to be in better position with fair competition.

This is the best performance of Ranbir Kapoor till date. In Wake Up Sid he showcased that he got a lot of talent and potential as a serious actor. This movie is just an extension of same. In his small career he has been brave enough to experiment with different set of characters and definitely the future is bright for this young actor. And above all this movie will establish his own identity which till date has been of being the son of Rishi Kapoor.

Final Verdict : If you are looking to have a funny weekend, enjoy the movie with entire family.

Paa – Movie Review
Paa is probably one of most awaited movie of all time in the history of Indian cinema. To describe in few words, Paa is an absolute Cinematic brilliance of Indian Film Industry. Paa has a simple storyline narrated in simplest of manner. Movie is neither inspired by Curios case of Benjamin Button nor Amitabh Bachchan portrays Brad Pitt charecter in the movie. Infact Paa is far superior & an intense emotional movie. It is probably the first time when a real life son portrayed the character of father of a child in a movie, who in real life is his own father.

Movie revolves around a 13 year old boy Auro who suffers from a rare disease called progeria, leading to extremely rapid ageing. He studies in school but looks 5-7 times older than boys of his age. He lives alone with his mother. Vidya Balan plays the role of an unmarried mother who refuses to abort the child when forced by Auro’s biological father Amol (Abhishek Bachchan). Amol accidently meets Auro after many years in a school fuction and there starts a journey of emotions.

Best part of the movie is direction by R. Balki. Paa is neither an educative movie nor an tear saga. Infact it is full of funny moments and countless emotions. Talking about performances, no amount of writing will justify the magical performance delivered by Amitabh Bachchan. This is one is for all those people acrosss worldwide who were surprised to see Amitabh adjusted as Superstar of the millennium by BBC. At the age of 67 this man delivered not only his best performance but also the one of the very best by anyone. This reflects the fact that no success in life is ever big enough to keep on working hard in pursuit of achieving excellance.

Abhishek Bachchan also delivers a superb performance followed by Vidya Balan & Paresh Rawal. But unfortunately all of them are simply overshadowed by one of the best act in the history of Indian movies by a true legend.

Verdict : Book tickets for your entire family this weekend.

De Dana Dan – Movie Review
Priyadarshan needs to stop making repeated attempt of creating a blockbuster just by repeating the star cast of Hera Pheri. Movies need script to become a success and one just needs to remind this to Priyadarshan. It’s really amazing that De Dana dan comes from the same director who has delivered classic movies like Virasaat & Hera Pheri.

Akshay Kumar & Sunil Shetty plays the role of guys who are under debt and badly needs money. Eventhough they are poor they have the most beautiful girlfriends in form of Katrina Kaif & Sameera Reddy. In order to make money and keep their GFs happy they do Hera Pheri in form of kidnapping & than start a series of events which are supposed to bring a lot of comical element in the movie. De Dana Dan is a week movie right from the beginning to end. Screenplay is a mixture of many hollywood – bollywood movies so there is nothing new to be seen in the movie. If someone manages to laugh all the way through the movie, he deserves a standing ovation.

Chemistry between Paresh Rawal & Akshay Kumar is missing in the movie. Akshay Kumar needs to have a serious rethink about his career at this point of his career. Everything was going so well for him and than he suddenly started doing a series of no-sense movies again & again. His fans have been long patient but stardom don’t stick with anyone else one reinvent himself all the time & experiment in different roles.

Verdict : Watch the movie at your own risk & money.
